Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has sent congratulatory message to his Samoan counterpart, Honourable Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi on the 50th anniversary of Samoa’s Independence. In his message, Prime Minister Bainimarama said, “I wish to extend, on behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji, and on my own behalf, our warmest congratulations and best wishes for your personal well-being and as well as the well-being of your citizens, and for the continued progress and prosperity of Samoa.” Samoa, which will celebrate its 50 years of independence tomorrow (Friday June 1), became independent of New Zealand on January 1, 1962 and Independence Day is celebrated on June 1 every year.
