More accolades have been pouring in for Favour Ofili's World Best feat as Africa's fastest woman in history Ta Lou-Smith joins the elite list. Following Favour Ofili's history-making 150m World Best at the Adidas Atlanta City Games on Saturday, May 17, Africa's fastest woman in history Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith has congratulated the Nigerian sprint sensation on her achievement. Ofili shocked athletes and athletics faithfuls when she blazed to a jaw-dropping 15.85s to win the women's 150m event at the games, thus smashing Shaunae Miller's previous World Record of 16.23s set in 2018. By doing this, the 22-year-old became the first woman in history to go below the 16-seconds mark and certify her name as a major force to watch for the rest of the season and ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo. For context, Ofili's 100m split time has been recorded at 10.82s, meaning she's well in range to break Blessing Okagbare's Nigerian Record of 10.79s, and perhaps challenge the African Record (10.72s) as the season progresses. With this in mind and the excitement of how much the Nigerian rising star still has to offer, Ofili took to her X page to react to her performance in a simple sentence to show her faith. "For the lord is Good." Ta Lou-Smith will then comment under her post, writing: "All the time, Great job sis, I am proud of you." The Ivorian legend is the women's 100m AR holder at 10.72s, and she's an award-winning multiple African and World Championships medallist. Ofili's feat has received several accolades from Nigerians and athletics enthusiasts around the world, as many couldn't help but appreciate her talent and the bright future she has ahead. Having agonizingly finished sixth in the Paris Olympics 200m final, the youngster will be gunning to change her fortunes this year at the World Championships in Tokyo. If she medals, it will see her finally become recognised in the elite league of the world's best female sprinters.
