$1 million annually from the government will win us medals – Ghana Athletics

President of the Ghana Athletics Bawa Fuseini has proposed the annual allocation of $1 million towards their activities if we want to win medals at global events, including the Olympics.
He said if we were intentional about winning medals like other countries do, then the government must be prepared to allocate $1 million annually.
Speaking to Rainbow Sports, he said the amount will go into the training of athletes, coaches, nutrition, and other related activities to prepare our athletes for the Olympics.
“If the country is able to give us $1 million annually for the next four years, we will win medals. Should the government give us one million dollars this year and subsequent years, we will bring home medals.
The amount will go into the training of our coaches and athletes; we will give them nutrition, medications, and stipends; and we will also give them high-profile competitions and good doctors to ensure that they perform better.”
He insisted that the value of winning the medals far exceeds $1 million, and if we dedicate the amount, we will be shocked at the results.
“The benefits Ghana is getting from the performance, the value of the performance, are more than the $1 million. The glory we will get from this will be far more valuable than the money we will invest,” he stressed.
