KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 110 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera.
The attacks occurred on Saturday, with 34 of the victims reportedly killed while waiting for food aid at a distribution site operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in southern Rafah.
Witnesses said Israeli forces opened fire directly at the crowd in the al-Shakoush area, outside one of GHF’s aid centers.
The incident came amid a breakdown in ceasefire talks in Qatar and growing international condemnation of Israel’s reported plans to forcibly displace Gaza’s population.
Human rights organizations and United Nations officials have described the conditions at GHF distribution sites as “death traps” and “human slaughterhouses.”
Reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum said the shooting at the aid center happened without warning.
“The GHF operates only one aid center in Rafah, forcing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to move to the southern part of Gaza to receive food,” he reported.
“Witnesses say the Israeli military deliberately targeted the hungry crowd without prior warning, sparking panic, chaos, and fear in the aftermath,” he added.
Medical officials in Gaza report that since the GHF began its operations in late May, more than 800 Palestinians have been killed and over 5,000 others wounded at its aid distribution sites.
