2 Michigan campgrounds are national contenders for Best Glamping in USA Today poll
@Source: mlive.com
Mother Nature offers all kinds of luxurious amenities while camping in Michigan like clear constellations, rolling white sand dunes and vast blue lakes. If that experience would be heightened by a foam mattress, full bar or maybe even a sauna then Michigan glamping is for you. It’s no surprise that Michigan glamping is once again on USA Today’s Reader’s Choice list looking for the best in the nation. Two glamping campgrounds made the top 20 and now it’s up to readers to narrow it down to a national top 10. Drop into the wild on Michigan’s most remote island at Beaver Island Retreat. Glampers can experience the wonder of the island’s international dark sky sanctuary, while still sleeping comfortably on a queen memory foam mattress and bamboo sheets. “We’re proud to help put Michigan’s outdoor destinations on the national map,” said Maria Dal Pra, Owner of Beaver Island Retreat. The safari tent keeps you close to the heart of nature while the custom furniture and a private porch add an element of elevated hospitality. Also onsite, is a 24-hour kitchen, guest laundry and a fully-equipped bar in the shared cedar-log pavilion. USA Today writes “the private bathhouses spoil you with high-quality fixtures, thick bath towels, and all-natural bath bars.” The retreat is filling up it’s Reader’s Choice trophy case, most recently coming in No. 2 for best glamping in the country in last year’s poll. “It’s an incredible honor to be nominated again by USA Today’s 10Best. Being recognized for three consecutive years is a reflection of the care we put into curating a luxury, nature-immersive experience on one of the most beautiful and remote islands in the Great Lakes,” said Brian Vaeth, Owner of Beaver Island Retreat. Just 10 minutes from Crystal Mountain’s ski, golf and spa resort and less than an hour from Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore this glamping experience puts you in an Up North haven of outdoor rec. While the setting is familiar, the glamping sites themselves are other worldly. Two geodesic domes with panoramic windows point out to the 13 acres of private woods. USA Today calls it an “exquisite escape.” Inside are more than just creature comforts, but high-end features like walnut cabinetry in a full kitchen, full sized bedrooms with a tv and Bose Bluetooth speaker and a washer and dryer. The glamping site is open year-round and caters to all seasons with private firepits, hot tubs, saunas and cold plunges. The domes are also heated and air-conditioned.
