Breanna Braham (Dennis-Yarmouth) Lauren Downer (Haverhill) Emmanuella Edozien (Natick) Ciara Evans (Newton North) Madeline Goncalves (Haverhill) Greta Hammer (Needham) Nyrah Joseph (Billerica) Nina Kyei-Aboagye (Sharon) Giuliana Ligor (North Reading) Lauren Quarm (Methuen) Zoe Santos (Norton) Macey Shriner (Plymouth North) Nialonis Smith (New Bedford) Alysha Yesenia Santana Sosa, Isabella Fiore, Kiera Fitzpatrick, Lauren Quarm (Methuen) 4×200-RELAY Stella Chen, Leena Bhandari Cordoba, Thalia Goessling, Anna Leschly (Brookline) 4×400-RELAY Gracie Richard, Jessica Harding, Emma Daley, Isabella Galusha (Weymouth) 4×800-RELAY BREANNA BRAHAM DENNIS-YARMOUTH Braham, one of the fastest runners in the state this winter, was the Coaches Invitational Small School champion in the 55-meters and 300-meters, then won both of those events at the Division 5 States. At the Meet of Champions, Braham won the 300-meters and placed third in the 55-meters. LAUREN DOWNER The senior set school records in the 800-meter run (2:15.35), the 600 (1:33.89), the 1000 (2:52.63) and the sprint medley relay (4:14.58). She finished as the Merrimack Valley Conference’s champion by setting a meet record in the 600, and captured first place at the MIAA’s Meet of Champions in the 1000. Downer placed sixth at the Indoor Nike Nationals in the Emerging Elite 800 event in 2024, and is a member of Haverhill’s Cross country and outdoor track teams. The high honors student is headed to Tufts University where she will study biopsychology on a pre-med track while continuing her running career. EMMANUELLA EDOZIEN Edozien shattered the state record in the 55-meter hurdles in 2025, winning the event at the Div. 1 state meet and the MIAA Meet of Champions. She took first place in the long jump competitions at both showcases. At New Englands, Edozien competed in each event, finishing as the runner-up twice. Edozien races with the Metro Cobras Track Club during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She has made the honor roll each semester of high school. CIARA EVANS NEWTON NORTH Evans won the mile event at the Meet of Champions (5:01) and at the MSTCA Coaches Invitational (4:57). The senior winner of the Junior Book Award is a child development major at Newton North. She is committed to Providence College, where she will continue to run track and cross country. MADELINE GONCALVES The senior shot putter registered a personal best with a toss of 43 feet in 2025, holds the school-record for the longest throw, and won the event at the Meet of Champions. At the MSTCA Coaches Invitational, the standout was the meet’s Outstanding Female Field Event Performer. Goncalves finished undefeated during the year in all of her MIAA and MSTCA events, respectively. Goncalves is a member of the National Honor, the National English Honor and the National Science Honor Society. She will study biology and run track at Holy Cross. GRETA HAMMER The junior won the mile at the MIAA Division 1 championships, clocking in at 5:00.79. She also was first at the MIAA Indoor Meet of Champions during the 2-mile (10:21.48). Hammer won the MIAA Cross-Country title and placed 25th at the Nike Cross Country Nationals in Portland. NYRAH JOSEPH Joseph was the state pentathlon champion, shattering a school-record with 3,550 points. Her splits included an 8.26-second clip in the 55-meter hurdles, as well as great performances in the high jump (5-04 feet), the long jump (17-09.5 feet), the shot put (36-1.25 feet) and the 800-meter run (2:37.79). She has received the CNESSPA (Council of New England Secondary Schools Principals’ Association Award) for her performance during the indoor and outdoor track seasons. Joseph is a high honor roll student who plays on the volleyball team. She has committed to UMass-Lowell where she will run track and study exercise science. NINA KYEI-ABOAGYE The junior was the Division 2 State champion in the 55-meter dash, setting a meet record in the process with a time of 7.09. She completed the double by winning the 300-meter title (39.70). With a year of eligibility remaining, she is still working on her college plans. GIULIANNA LIGOR NORTH READING The Cape Ann League Athlete of the Year was champion in the 55-meter hurdles, the 300 and the 600. She was the Division 5 State champion in the 55-hurdles as well as the 600. Ligor took fourth in the pentathlon at the New Balance National Indoor Pentathlon. A member of the National Honor Society, Ligor will run track at the University of Pennsylvania. LAUREN QUARM Quarm was a dominant force when it came to the 55-meter dash, winning a Merrimack Valley Conference and a state championship in that event. As a teammate on Methuen’s vaunted 4×200 relay squad, she helped the Rangers capture the Division 1 and Meet of Champions title. The junior races club track with SPF (Speed Performance Factory) in the offseason. The senior standout won the high jump at the Division 4 States with a winning leap of 5-04.00. She was second in the same event at the Meet of Champions, registering a leap of 5-06, then also placed second at the New Englands (5-07). Santos will continue her career at Quinnipiac. MACEY SHRINER PLYMOUTH NORTH Shriner had a big senior season, finishing as the Division 2 state champion in the 600-meter run as well as the 1000. She qualified for Nationals in four events, and was the Patriot League’s Most Valuable Player for a fifth time. Shriner has set seven school records and qualified for Nationals six times. An honor roll student who also races with the Emerging Elites club team, Shriner has committed to Penn State for track and field. NIALONIS SMITH NEW BEDFORD An all-Big Three performer, Smith was the league champion in the weight throw and the shot put. She also finished first in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put at the Division 1 State championships. The junior is enrolled in all AP and honors classes at New Bedford, and is hoping to pursue psychology as a major when she heads to college. During her spare time at the school, Smith is a member of New Bedford’s Junior ROTC program. 4×200 RELAY ALYSHA SANTANA SOSA, ISABELLA FIORE, KIERA FITZPATRICK, LAUREN QUARM The foursome of Santana Sosa, Fiore, Fitzpatrick and Quarm hit the daily double, winning both the Division 1 States (1:45.92) as well as the Meet of Champions (1:45.98). Santana Sosa set a personal best in the 300-meters (43.51) and also plays field hockey and softball. The Stonehill-bound Fiore was part of a relay team which took fourth at the New England Nationals. Fitzpatrick also competed in the 600-meters as well as the 4×400-relay team. She is ranked among the top 10 in her class with a 4.34 GPA. An All-EMass soccer star, Fitzpatrick will play that sport at UMass-Lowell. 4×400 RELAY TEAM STELLA CHEN, LEENA BHANDARI CORDOBA, THALIA GOESSLING, ANNA LESCHLY The quartet of Chen, Bhandari Cordoba, Goessling and Leschly went undefeated during the season and won the 4×400 at the Division 1 States with a winning time of 4;06.45. Chen was part of a relay team which won the MSTCA Div. 1 relays and the MSTCA Coaches Invitational. Chen also plays field hockey at Brookline and runs club with Bay State Champions Track. Bhandri Cordoba set personal records in the 55-meter dash (8.55 seconds), the 300 (44.77), the 400 (1:02.21), the 600 (1:41.6), the 800 (2:27.7), the 1000 (3:06.33) and the mile (5:48). The Colorado College-bound Goessling competed in several winning relays for Brookline throughout the winter. Leschly is a two-time Herald All-Scholastic and a member of the National Honor Society. She is committed to Dartmouth College where she plans on playing soccer. 4×800 RELAY TEAM GRACIE RICHARD, JESSICA HARDING, EMMA DALEY, ISABELLA GALUSHA The foursome of Richard, Harding, Daley and Galusha captured the Meet of Champions title in a stellar time of 9:20.97. Richard was seventh in the state in the 1000-meters and also holds school records in the 400 and 800. An honor roll student, Richard will attend UMass-Lowell where she will be majoring in nursing. Harding competed in the 600 and 1000 as well as the mile. She takes multiple AP courses and participates in her high school’s theater company, which is currently competing in the METG festival finals. Daley was part of a 4×800-relay team which took a sixth in the New Englands and a title at the Coaches Invitational. She will run track/cross-country and study nursing at Sacred Heart. Galusha was third in the 600 at the Division 1 States. A member of the National Honor Society, the Stonehill-bound Galusha was a recent recipient of the Excellence in English Award at Weymouth High School.
