A 26-year-old man collapsed and died while playing badminton with friends in Uppal Bagayath area on Sunday evening.
The deceased, identified as Gundla Rakesh, was a private employee and a resident of RTC cross road. According to an officer from Uppal police, he often played badminton on the weekends with friends in the locality.
“While playing as usual, he suddenly collapsed on the court. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Preliminary information indicates that he suffered a heart attack,” said the officer.
The CCTV footage of the incident has been widely shared on social media which shows Rakesh collapsing in the middle of the game. His friends were seen attempting CPR but in vain.
Uppal police have registered a case and are awaiting a post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of death.
