YouTubers, TikTokers and Instagrammers work hard to entertain, inform and educate their subscribers. Their performance is sometimes so compelling that it’s hard to imagine they may be going through heart-breaking and tough times in their own lives. Today, we bring you the story of one such YouTuber who was betrayed by her own family. Her in-laws rejected her, and even her parents turned their backs on her. Speaking to News18, this brave YouTuber, Alka Jaiswal, recounts her painful journey.
Alka’s Story
Alka hails from a middle-class family, and has six siblings. Her father works as a government employee. At the age of 6, she battled tuberculosis (TB), a fight she eventually won. She also completed her education despite the challenges.
As a young girl, Alka dreamed of a happy marriage. She is a manglik, so her family sought a manglik boy for her. She thought her family had found a suitable match for her when they arranged her marriage and celebrated the wedding with great pomp.
Before the marriage, her family was told that the groom was a government employee with a stable job in merchant navy. Alka was happy, believing she was about to start a secure and comfortable life with a good partner, but she never imagined that her life would take a tragic turn after tying the knot.
Truth Revealed After Marriage
Upon moving to her marital home, Alka’s dream life began to crumble. For the first few days, everything seemed fine, but soon, the truth came out. The man she married didn’t have a permanent job in the merchant navy. His qualifications were fake, his age was falsified, and he was significantly older than her.
Alka returned to her maternal home to share the truth, but her family, instead of supporting her, urged her to go back and make the best of the situation. When she returned to her husband’s home, she was even more shocked to discover that the house she had moved into after marriage wasn’t even their own. Feeling helpless but accepting her fate, she decided to stay with her in-laws.
Facing Hardships During Pregnancy
When Alka became pregnant, things took a turn for the worse. She didn’t have the money for medical expenses, and her in-laws suggested she go back to her parents’ house. She struggled to manage her pregnancy without any support, constantly worrying about how she would handle the delivery and medical bills.
In her YouTube vlogs, she explains how her husband not only did not work but also struggled with substance abuse. He allegedly physically assaulted her multiple times, and her family even filed complaints against him.
Alka recalls the most devastating day of her life. When she was eight months pregnant, her husband and in-laws abandoned her. She was left in a nightie, with only Rs 5 in her hand, and the weight of an unborn child in her belly. She wandered the streets, filled with despair, even considering begging to survive.
“I was having thoughts of suicide. I did not want to be a burden on my family. I had a baby in my womb. I had injuries everywhere on my face and nose. I was wearing a nightie. I was in a crazy state. I had Rs 5 in my hand. I was thinking what to do, beg or what else. All sorts of thoughts were coming to my mind. He had left me and run away,” Alka said.
Abandoned During Delivery
The pain deepened when Alka had a premature delivery. Even then, her husband neither supported her nor paid any of the hospital bills. Her parents, who paid around Rs 41,000, were left with the responsibility of taking care of her. It was at that point that her parents decided they would not let their daughter stay with such a man.
A New Beginning
Despite the overwhelming odds, Alka managed to fight back and rebuild her life. She found strength in herself and began working. Presently, she is a banker and continues to grow her presence on YouTube and social media. She has won multiple titles, including ‘Supermom’ and ‘Miss Gorakhpur’. Most importantly, Alka found love and support in her second marriage. She credits her success to her second husband, who has stood by her side through thick and thin.
Alka’s story is one of pain, perseverance, and eventual triumph, proving that even the darkest moments can lead to a brighter future.
