The 8th edition of the Bola Akindele U15 boys and girls football competition will kick off today, Saturday 31st of May at Ojo Oniyun pitch, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
Speaking at the unveiling of trophies, organisers of the tournament, Courteville Business Solutions, in collaboration with Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association said this year’s edition will witness huge turnout of young football clubs across Lagos state with 32 male and 24 female teams scheduled to jostle for trophy in their respective category.
Increasing number of venues at this year’s edition, Elegbata Sports Complex, Lagos Island, has been penciled to host various duels while Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island will be hosting the final on July 20th, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the tourney, the Group Managing Director, Courteville Business Solutions PLC, Dr. Adebola Ismail Akindele disclosed that the 8th edition will supersede previous editions.
“I ventured into this because I want to contribute to national development through sports by bankrolling the competition, while we hope that these players will seize the opportunity afforded them to better their careers.
“I must give kudos to the organizers who have been setting this up since the last seven years. My ideology is not only on sports development, I also have great plans for kids willing to shine in their academics. I’m also glad to see this competition produced lot of soccer stars across the globe and this year edition won’t be left out for we have outlined a great plan which will see it outshine previous edition,” he promised.
Akindele however disclosed top four finishers of various categories will walk home with a whooping sum of 400k, 300k, 200k and 100k respectively.
