A Century In Just 3 Overs! Near Impossible To Break This Australian Giant's Record Now
@Source: news18.com
It is truly remarkable to reflect on the records set by Australia’s Don Bradman, widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. His achievements continue to astonish, particularly his incredible batting average of nearly 100 runs, a feat he achieved 94 years ago.
In 1931, Bradman managed to score a century in just three overs. While overs at that time consisted of eight balls instead of the modern six, this remains an astonishing feat even in the current era of Test cricket.
Unrivalled Test Records
Don Bradman, the former Australian cricketer, accumulated 6,996 runs in 80 Test innings at a staggering average of 99.94. With 29 centuries to his name, including a monumental 334-run innings, his record remains unmatched. Breaking this record seems nearly impossible. Furthermore, Bradman achieved a remarkable feat in 1931, scoring a century just 18 minutes after the match began.
Remarkable Innings For The Blackheath Team
This remarkable achievement took place 94 years ago, during a time when Test cricket was played in a traditional manner. Unlike the fast-paced T20 era, where boundaries are common, cricketers of Bradman’s time tended to spend more time at the crease. Playing for the Blackheath team in 1931, Bradman scored a century in just three overs.
It’s important to note that during this period, overs consisted of eight balls, meaning a batsman could score a maximum of 48 runs in an over, compared to the current maximum of 36 runs in a six-ball over.
In a match in New South Wales, Bradman came to the crease and scored 33 runs from the first over, hitting a single off the last ball to retain the strike. He then unleashed a series of powerful strokes, scoring 40 runs off Horrie Baker’s over, including four sixes and four fours. In the next over from Bill Black, Bradman added another 29 runs, completing his century in just 22 balls across three overs. Bradman’s total for the match was 256 runs, including 29 fours and 14 sixes.
Century In Three Overs (Eight-Ball Overs)

Third over (Bowler – Bill Black): 1, 6, 6, 1, 1, 4, 4, 6 – Total: 29 runs
