LAGOS – The African Action Congress (AAC) and its guberna-torial candidate for Anambra State, Chi-oma Ifemeludike, have condemned and rejected Governor Charles Solu-do’s recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
In a statement issued by If-emeludike, she stated that the brazen display of political oppor-tunism, marked by Soludo’s visit to the Presidential Villa few days ago, wearing a cap emblazoned with “Progressives Working Together” and his subsequent interview praising Tinubu’s so-called ‘reforms’, was an insult to the suffering people of Anambra and Nigeria at large.
Ifemeludike stated: “Gov-ernor Soludo cannot coerce or badger Ndi-Anambra into sup-porting the disastrous Tinubu administration, which has in-flicted unprecedented hardship on ordinary Nigerians.
“Since the reckless removal of the fuel subsidy, the presidency has boasted that state governors are receiving triple their previ-ous federal allocations.
“Yet, what tangible benefits have Anambra residents seen from this windfall under Solu-do’s watch?
“Instead of investing in criti-cal infrastructure, healthcare, or education, these funds appear to have been squandered on fleets of luxury vehicles and an osten-tatious convoy that serves only to inflate the governor’s ego and distance him from the people he claims to represent.”
She maintained that both President Tinubu and Governor Soludo had failed in the core sectors essential to national and state development: health, educa-tion, and good governance.
Ifemeludike stressed: “Hospi-tals remain under-equipped and inaccessible, schools are crum-bling without adequate funding or resources, and corruption thrives unchecked amid a culture of impunity.
“It is no surprise that Soludo now aligns himself with Tinu-bu — they are birds of the same feather, flocking together in fail-ure.
“We cannot allow such inept leaders to claim a second tenure as if it were their birthright, per-petuating a cycle of mediocrity and suffering.
“Furthermore, Governor Soludo’s misuse of government machinery to campaign for his own re-election while suppress-ing opposition voices, is a blatant abuse of power and a threat to de-mocracy in Anambra.
“This endorsement is not about progress; it is about self-preservation and entrench-ing a failed status quo.”
