As Aamir Khan approaches his 60th birthday on March 14, the actor recently engaged in a candid conversation with veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar at an event in the city. The duo discussed cinema, their experiences, and industry insights. During the interaction, Akhtar recalled predicting years ago that Aamir would become a superstar—a foresight that undoubtedly came true. While reflecting on his career, Aamir shared a fascinating revelation about Rajkumar Hirani’s Lage Raho Munna Bhai. He disclosed that the film’s original script was initially written for him, but things took a different turn when Hirani arrived for the narration. He recalled, “Originally, Raju had written a script where he wanted me to play that part. The day he came to narrate the script to me, he said that the script he was going to tell me about had changed and was called Munna Bhai 2 (Lage Raho Munna Bhai) and that he had nothing to narrate to me.” Curious about the discarded script, Aamir asked Hirani about it, and the filmmaker revealed a compelling concept. “So I asked him what the original story was about, and he said it was about a young guy who is a freedom fighter in India before independence. He has been fighting during the Gandhian era, and during a lathi charge, he gets hit on the head and slips into a coma. He wakes up 40-45 years later. By then, India has gotten independence, but he still feels stuck in that era, which is why he talks to Gandhi and all. He doesn’t know that Gandhi has been killed; that was Raju’s original concept.” Despite Aamir not being part of Lage Raho Munna Bhai, the film became a massive success, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, and Vidya Balan in lead roles. However, Aamir later collaborated with Rajkumar Hirani in PK, which turned out to be another blockbuster. On the work front, Aamir is gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par and is also set to produce Lahore 1947 alongside Rajkumar Santoshi.
