Aaron Boone Contract: Shocking New Details On Yankees Manager's Deal
@Source: newsweek.com
Does Aaron Boone deserve to be one of Major League Baseball's highest-paid managers?Well, it doesn't really matter, because the Yankees skipper now is among the most well-compensated managers in the league, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The Yankees agreed to a contract extension with Boone last week."Aaron Boone's new deal for the Yankees is, in effect, a three-year deal through 2027, as they bumped his pay this year to $4.5 million and added two years at $5M and $5.5M, making it $15M over three years, The Post has learned," Heyman wrote in a piece published Thursday.Heyman didn't specify where Boone's $5 million annual salary ranks among other MLB managers. However, it's worth noting that Craig Counsell (Chicago Cubs) and Torey Lovullo (Arizona Diamondbacks) reportedly entered last season with the two highest manager salaries at $8 million and $5 million, respectively.Boone took a lot of heat over his first seven seasons leading the Yankees, occasionally for good reason. But the reality is New York posted a winning record each season, with Boone amassing a 603-429 regular-season record and 22-23 postseason record.During Boone's tenure, the Yankees have won three American League East titles and one American League pennant, and made the playoffs in all but one season.More MLB: 'I Couldn't Give A (Bleep)': Red Sox Pitcher Gives Honest Take On Contract
