The ABC commentator suffered a heart attack on Wednesday and has undergone surgery, the ABC reports. His health update was announced by Brett Sprigg, who replaced Moore for Thursday night’s blockbuster match between the Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm in Sydney. Sprigg said Moore was “a bit knocked around” but remained “in good spirits”. In a statement to ABC Sport, Moore “(passed) on his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who have cared for him”. “We are saddened to share that our colleague and friend Andrew Moore has recently suffered a heart attack,” the statement read. “All of us at ABC Sport are sending our love and best wishes to Andrew, and we can’t wait to hear his voice back in the commentary box when the time is right. “Until then, mate – we’ve got things covered.
