Star Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has revealed a valuable piece of advice that he received from Shikhar Dhawan and how that played a part in him bringing out a piece of paper and dedicating his hundred to the Sunrisers Hyderabad supporters during IPL 2025.
Abhishek was seen pulling out a chit from his pocket after scoring a hundred in the tournament, a moment that caught the attention of fans as well as experts.
Explaining the heartfelt gesture, Abhishek said that it was a part of his journaling and manifestation process, a method he took up on the advice of Dhawan.
“I started journaling a long time back. Shikhar Paaji once told me it is helpful and it really has been over the last two to three years,” Abhishek said while speaking on the Great Kapil Sharma Show.
Abhishek’s big moment came during a blistering knock of 141 off just 55 deliveries against the Punjab Kings in Hyderabad.
Abhishek’s knock, which included 14 fours and 10 sixes at a stunning strike rate of 256.36, is now etched as the highest score by an Indian in the Indian Premier League history.
Abhishek’s 141 ranks as the third-highest individual score in Indian Premier League history, behind just Chris Gayle’s 175* and Brendon McCullum’s 158*.
Abhishek scored 116 of his 141 runs through big hits, going past Jonny Bairstow’s previous record of 90 for the most runs in a single knock by a Hyderabad batter via big hits.
With Hyderabad chasing 246, Abhishek gave them the beginning they required, he started by smacking four boundaries off his first five deliveries.
Abhishek had a slice of luck on 32 when he was caught at deep backward point but Yash Thakur had overstepped. He brought up his half-century in 19 deliveries, his century off 40. It was the sixth-fastest century in the Indian Premier League.
Abhishek was last seen in action against the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL in May.
Meanwhile, Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket in August.
Having made his international debut 14 years ago, Dhawan retired with 269 appearances for India.
Dhawan’s score of 187 in his first innings in Tests, against Australia in Mohali, is the highest by an India debutant in men’s Tests and the eighth-best overall.
