Super Eagles Victor Boniface’s reported move to AC Milan has been called off due to failed medical tests. The proposed deal, which had advanced significantly, included a verbal agreement for an initial €5 million loan with a mandatory €24 million buy clause. Boniface had even traveled to Milan in Italy to finalize the transfer. However, according to a report from renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the agreement collapsed after club medical staff identified a problem with the player’s right knee. “AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as the Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests,” Fabrizio posted on his X handle on Sunday. “Despite verbal agreement for a €5m loan fee and a €24m buy clause with a player in Milano in the last 48h, the deal was called off due to medical reasons. Boniface, returning to Germany today.” With the transfer now off, Boniface is set to return to his current club Bayer Leverkusen. The failed medical represents a significant setback for AC Milan’s transfer plans, forcing the Serie A side to pursue other targets to bolster their attacking options. Despite the club-level setback, Boniface’s international duties remain unaffected. The striker has been included in coach Eric Chelle’s 31-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
