Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce just added another name to the list of their admirers, and it’s none other than Adam Sandler. The actor, comedian, and producer, who recently worked with the NFL star in the upcoming movie Happy Gilmore 2, had nothing but praise for both Travis and his pop star girlfriend, who have been dating for nearly two years.
The 58-year-old actor spoke about Travis’ cameo in the new sequel with Entertainment Tonight, along with his co-star Julie Bowen. Adam called the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end “a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell.”
He compared Travis with his buddies, saying, “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.” Highlighting that the 35-year-old athlete is “a stud”, the Murder Mystery actor called Travis “a great actor and a great human.”
Speaking about Travis’ girlfriend Taylor, Adam shared that his two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, who also appear in Happy Gilmore 2, have met the pop star several times. Recalling the premiere of the 35-year-old singer’s Eras Tour Film in Los Angeles in 2023, he shared that Taylor greeted him and his girls with a warm hug. He praised the Cruel Summer crooner, saying, “Taylor is incredible. Taylor is so damn nice to my family and has always been. My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she’s ridiculously nice to them and warm.”
When the co-stars were asked about the celebrity cameos in Happy Gilmore 2, which include professional golfers like Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly, and Tony Finau, footballers Travis and Reggie Bush, and other celebrities in the entertainment world, Julie shared that “everybody wanted to be in it.” Meanwhile, Adam mentioned that casting such popular faces in the sequel was not “too difficult.”
As for his upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2, it is a sequel to his 1996 sports comedy Happy Gilmore. The new film, directed by Kyle Newacheck, will follow the titular character as he comes out of retirement and plays golf once again to pay for his daughter’s ballet school. The movie will be released on Netflix on July 25.
