BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Asian Development
Bank (ADB) Vice-President Yingming Yang will visit Tajikistan on
Wednesday for his first official visit to the country, marking the
start of a three-day program aimed at strengthening ties and
highlighting ongoing development cooperation, Trend reports.
During his visit, Yang is scheduled to meet with senior
government officials and representatives of development partners.
He will also visit ADB-supported project sites and deliver remarks
at the High-Level International Conference on Glaciers’
Preservation, which is taking place this week in Dushanbe.
Yang assumed his role as ADB Vice-President in January 2024 and
oversees the bank’s operations in South, Central, and West Asia,
including Tajikistan.
ADB has been a key development partner to Tajikistan since the
country joined the institution in 1998. To date, the bank has
extended more than $2.7 billion in assistance, including over $2.2
billion in grants. This support has helped finance a wide range of
projects - from strategic investments in transport and energy
infrastructure to initiatives aimed at boosting climate resilience
and enhancing social services.
ADB and the Government of Tajikistan are currently working on a
new five-year Country Partnership Strategy to guide future
cooperation.
