Adil Aouchiche has no fears over potentially becoming Aberdeen ’s record signing. The midfielder has joined the Dons on-loan from Sunderland . The Reds have the option to buy the playmaker for £1.5 million if he makes an impact at Pittodrie. Aberdeen’s previous club record buy was the £1million they paid Oldham Athletic for Paul Bernard. Aouchiche said: “I don’t really focus on how much it is, but, of course, both clubs are confident about this move and the transfer. “I just care about what I do on the pitch and how I can help the club. “That decision will be at the end of the season, I’ll just focus on my football and see what happens. “Of course, I am glad to be a player the club is putting good money on so that’s a motivation for me. “The club wants to buy me, which is always good for a player to know. “I don’t see that as pressure, I know the pressure of football and am used to being in this type of position.” Jimmy Thelin has put massive faith in the 23-year-old. Aouchiche came through the youth ranks of Paris Saint-Germain and is used to that sort of pressure. Aouchiche claimed: “I just need to be myself, enjoy myself on the pitch. “From being a young kid I just wanted to play football, win games and score in games and create goals. “I just wanted to enjoy myself on the pitch and I think being here will be good for me. “I came from one of the best clubs in the world in PSG, played for two good clubs in France and a huge club in England in Sunderland. So I want to bring my experience to Aberdeen. “The things I learned will help me for the rest of my career, sometimes it was hard and other times it was good. “For me, as a player, it was good for me to sometimes be at the bottom.” The ex-St Etienne and Lorient player confirmed an unlikely former Don helped sell him on Aberdeen. Mo Chalai had a season with the Dons back in 2012. The Algerian is close to one of Aouchiche’s relations. He explained: “I always like to speak to somebody who has played in the league, it gives me a feeling before I sign for a club. “It is a new challenge, I am still young and still learning. “I spoke to a lot of players, some from the Ligue 1 or the English Championship because they know the league better than me. “I also spoke to an old player, Mo Chalali. “He played for Aberdeen. “He said good things about Aberdeen, this badge and the team. “Mo Chalali is the best friend of one of my cousins so I had the chance to speak to him on Facetime. “It was good, a really important step for me. He said good things about the club and the people here. “It was one of the main steps of this move because I didn’t really know what was happening inside the club, so I was happy to hear good things.” Aouchiche came in after Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup win. He wants to have his own successes in red. He and his Aberdeen team mates are hoping it starts with an extended Premier Sports Cup run, which starts away to Morton. He confirmed: “It is a good chance for us. “Every game is important. “Last season they won the cup and it would be good to win another cup or something else this season. “Every game is important. “We just need to win to get confidence, individually and as a team. “We also want to win for the fans.” Aberdeen are still waiting for clearance to play Kenan Bilalovic and to complete the signing of striker Marko Lazetic from AC Milan.
