‘Adolescence’ Cast and Character Guide: Who’s Who in Netflix’s Acclaimed Drama?

“Peaky Binders” favorite Stephen Graham stars in the Netflix series “Adolescence” as a man whose world is shattered when his 13-year-old son (newcomer Owen Cooper) is accused of murdering a female classmate. Graham wrote ad co-created the series with Jack Thorne, whose previous work includes the 2022 sports drama “The Swimmers” and the 2024 biopic “Joy.” Like the BAFTA-nominated feature “Boiling Point,” which also starred Graham, the series is filmed in a continuous one-shot style by Philip Barantini. Here’s who plays who in the cast, which also includes co-stars Mark Stanley, Jo Hartley and newcomer Amélie Pease. Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller 13-year-old Jamie is accused of the horrific murder of a classmate. This is Cooper’s debut role. Stephen Graham as Eddie Miller Graham, who also co-created the series, stars as Jamie’s father. The prolific actor’s previous roles include Al Capone on “Boardwalk Empire,” Andy on “Boiling Point,” Hayden Stagg in “Peaky Blinders” and Patrick Mulligan in “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” and “Venom: The Last Dance.” Ashley Walters as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe D.I. Bascombe is the inspector in charge of the murder investigation. Walters previously played Josh in “Missing You” and Dushane in “Top Boy.” Erin Doherty as Briony Ariston The actress, who played young Princess Anne on “The Crown,” costars as the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamie’s case. Doherty’s other roles include Mary Carr on the Disney+ series “A Thousand Blows” and Becky in the BBC/Prime Video thriller series “Chloe.” Faye Marsay as DS Misha Frank Marsay, who played Anne Neville in Starz historical drama “The White Queen” and Candice in the British comic series “Fresh Meat,” costars as a Detective Sergeant on the case. She also played the Waif on “Game of Thrones.” Christine Tremarco as Manda Miller The actress, known for “The Responder,” plays Jamie’s mother, Manda.
