Star of Netflix's Adolescence , Erin Doherty, has split from her partner of seven years. The actress, 32, is said to have separated from Sophie Melville, 34, seven years after meeting on the set of the Alan Ayckburn play titled The Divide. While the couple remained fiercely private with their romance over the years, it's said they are no longer together. A source has since confirmed to the Mirror that the relationship has been over for a while. While Erin is currently making waves on the Netflix drama starring Stephen Graham - and also featuring alongside the Scouse star on A Thousand Blows - Sophie is best known for her appearance on BBC's Call The Midwife. Both Erin and Sophie no longer follow each other on Instagram . They had initially kept their relationship private for two years before going public. Erin has previously opened up about their pairing. And she also admitted in the past that relationships with men had left her feeling "unsatisfied". After finding her feet on The Crown, Erin's performance on Netflix's Adolescence has won the plaudits. The actress perfectly plays the role of clinical psychologist Briony Ariston in the gripping four-part series. She is tasked with evaluating Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), a teen accused of killing a female peer. While Jamie starts off as seemingly friendly, his demeanour quickly shifts to something more sinister and volatile. And it's that part of the filming that Erin labelled "genuinely scary". She commended the 14-year-old newcomer for his remarkable performance in his television debut and said: "It was genuinely scary." Speaking to Variety , she added: "It's every actor's dream to get to a place where you forget yourself, and you are in this strange reality that you've created. It sounds bizarre, but you genuinely do believe it in the moment." She continued to lay praise at the feet of her younger co-star, saying: "I'm so proud of Owen because I got to see him push himself as an actor, to really go there. Back then, he was this kid and he didn't want to be this scary thing, especially with someone he just met." Erin has also previously opened up on how she got to grips playing her own role. Speaking to Metro , she explained: "I think particularly psychologically, people who are in that line of work are very in the moment. "I was conscious that what you needed to see was someone who was present rather than having that context. So I basically did my research and then let it all go, in order to serve the piece as best I could." Like this story?
