AIKEN — Cedar Creek Golf Club, which is undergoing significant renovations, brought $1.5 million when it changed hands recently. Cedar Creek Holding Company LLC purchased the 18-hole, Arthur Hills-designed course from Cedar Creek Golf LLC in a deal that closed June 16, according to Aiken County land records. Cedar Creek Holding Company was formed in South Carolina in March. Russell Bloom, who is the president and chief operating officer of Bloom Golf Management, is the registered agent. Earlier this month, the Aiken Standard reported that Bloom partnered with Don Groft of Pawleys Island, looking to expand Bloom Golf Management’s portfolio beyond the two-hour circle of courses around the company’s Mississippi base. "Our process is to raise private capital, so we put together the business plan and investment offering, and we raised the capital that we need to buy the course," Bloom told the newspaper. "Then we raised an additional $1.5 million for operating capital and immediate improvements to the club. … As soon as we closed, we had everything lined up to start the process of making the improvements." The work being done includes bunker refurbishment, cart path restoration and turf replacement. James McNair Jr. is the registered agent for Cedar Creek Golf, which was formed in South Carolina in June 2012. The Aiken Standard reported in November of the same year that McNair had purchased the course, then known as the Golf Club at Cedar Creek — following approximately 10 months of negotiations. Cedar Creek Golf Club is at 2555 Club Drive. It was built in 1991. McNair owns The Aiken Golf Club.
