Alejandro Garnacho's scathing Man United attack left me speechless - it's time for a response

Alejandro Garnacho, at times, has been one of the very few shining lights for Manchester United this season. From scoring against Manchester City in the Community Shield to restoring his place under Ruben Amorim, it's been non-stop.
Before the international break, which Garnacho spent differently after being left out of the Argentina squad, scored in the 3-0 win over Leicester City. It was his first Premier League goal in 17 games, when he scored against the Foxes on November 10.
The winger has struggled to make the impact Amorim and he would have hoped. However, in glimpses, Garnacho has been United's most-dangerous player with his direct offensive play causing havoc for defences. He has registered assists in each of the last three Europa League games and when playing to his level, is unstoppable.
His lack of consistency and problems to fit into Amorim's 3-4-3 system has added fuel to the fire surrounding his future. The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Napoli and Chelsea in January and United could still cash-in on him in the summer to comply with PSR.
United's end of the season could firmly rest on how the forward plays with a place in the Champions League still up for grabs. However, despite seeming to look close to his best recently, Garnacho has been on the receiving end of a scorching attack from ex-United player Paul Parker.
Speaking to SpilXperten, Parker said: "We can't keep using the excuse that Garnacho is young. He is not young anymore, at least not in football. He turns 21 in the summer and before he knows he will be 30. He needs to understand that and start performing."
"The best players, like Ryan Giggs, were not considered young when he was 21. Garnacho might be immature but he is not young anymore, and it is a massive disappointment that he is not performing at all.
"He is not playing like an adult and he is certainly not acting like an adult, and he has to have a good look in the mirror, to tell himself that he needs to stop thinking about being the next Ronaldo. He will never do that, so he has to accept the fact that he needs to work hard to get a decent career."
Those words are not too harsh. The Ronaldo comparison is tough on Garnacho, but becoming more mature on the field isn't a wild suggestion. What comes next, however, is savage.
"I liked him when he came through and he had that Argentinian fire in his belly, which he has lost completely. He has let himself and his family down. He has let his club down, because he is not taking advantage of the talent he was supposed to have.
"I am not seeing anything from him. The most important thing for him now is to understand what he is good at and what he is bad at. He can’t take on people, he is not quick enough and he doesn’t want to work hard. So, what is he actually good at?
"He needs to figure that out and show it, rather than just wanting to be the next Ronaldo.’ Because at the moment, to me, he just seems like a Ronaldo fanboy, who would rather make a few highlights to post them on Social Media rather than winning football matches and make this club great again."
Parker's comments come after United boss Amorim labelled Garnacho's one of most recent performance as his best under the Portuguese. "I think with Garnacho, and we're always talking about Garnacho, he defended really well and attacked really well.
"I think it was the best game of Garnacho since I've been here. He's improving and we understood the plan quite well."
Of course, anyone that has watched United this season will know that Garnacho has repeatedly come under fire. But under Amorim, his attitude problem seems to have cooled and his focus seems to be on the pitch.
In a world where players like Garnacho use social media and read these sort of things, Parker's words aren't the sort you want to hear. When United line-up against Nottingham Forest next week, eyes will be on the forward.
He went viral earlier this season when he was involved in an alteration with a United fan outside of Old Trafford. At the time, many backed the Argentinian, now, he has the opportunity to respond to Parker with a resounding end to the season and establish himself as a Premier League regular.
