All-round RCB humble CSK at Chepauk in IPL 2025: Key stats

All-round Royal Challengers Bengaluru humbled Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk in match number 8 of the Indian Premier League 2025 season. Asked to bat, RCB posted a score of 196/7 in 20 overs. Rajat Patidar, who was dropped thrice, smashed a half-century. Noor Ahmad claimed a three-fer for RCB. In response, RCB's sturdy bowling helped them seal the deal as CSK managed 146/8. Phil Salt slammed a whirlwind 16-ball 32 upfront before being dismissed by Noor. Virat Kohli, who struggled to get going, chipped in with 31 runs from 30 balls. The likes of Devdutt Padikkal (27) and Tim David (22*) played vital cameos. Skipper Patidar chipped in with a fifty, making CSK pay for the dropped catches. Besides Noor, pacer Matheesha Pathirana claimed 2/36 for CSK. Kohli became the highest run-scorer against 5-time IPL champions, CSK. The 36-year-old Kohli attained the milestone with his 5th run. Kohli surpassed Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a total of 1,057 runs against CSK at 44.04 from 29 matches. Kohli, who came into this contest with 1,053 runs versus CSK, now owns 1,084 runs at 37.37 (4s: 78, 6s: 43). At Chepauk, Kohli has raced to 414 IPL runs at 29-plus (SR: 110.40). Notably, 335 of these runs have come against CSK at 33-plus from 10 matches now (SR: 112-plus). Both of his fifties at Chepauk have come against CSK. Patidar completed 2,500 runs in the 20-over format. He accomplished the milestone with just his third run. Patidar, who walked in when RCB were 76/2, went on to slam a whirlwind 32-ball 51. Playing his 77th T20 match, Patidar has raced to 2,548 runs at 38.60 (SR: 158.75). Patidar's tally includes 25 fifties (100s: 1). In IPL, he has raced to 884 runs. Noor broke a 45-run stand between Salt and Kohli. He dismissed Salt in the 5th over. MS Dhoni completed the stumping. Noor then saw Rahul Tripathi drop a catch of Patidar off the first ball in the 12th over. Kohli was his next victim moments later. Another Patidar catch was dropped off his bowling thereafter. Liam Livingstone's wicket was his 3rd of the contest. Noor's 3/36 sees him race to 7 wickets in the IPL 2025 season. He averages 7.71 and his economy rate reads 6.75. His 41 follows a score of 65* against Mumbai Indians in CSK's opener last Sunday. He now owns 106 runs in IPL 2025.
