ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Ireland Women’s 14-player squad has arrived at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup European Qualifier in the Netherlands starting 20 August 2025. The event is a double round robin with each team playing each other twice. The top two teams then progress to the Global Qualifier. Additional background: Bangladesh and Scotland have earned automatic spots in the Global Qualifier by virtue of their participation in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Thailand and Nepal qualified for the Global Qualifier through the Asia regional pathway, while the USA secured their place from the Americas region. The remaining five spots will be filled by two teams each from Africa and Europe and one from the East Asia-Pacific region, following the completion of their respective regional Qualifiers. The Qualifier in Nepal will see the 10 teams divided into two groups of five, followed by a Super Six stage and a Final. POINTS OF INTEREST Ireland Women were on a nine-game unbeaten streak in T20I cricket until their recent loss to Pakistan Women in Clontarf. Number of T20I caps in the squad: 647 Average age of the squad: 24.07 years Two players have 100 or more T20I caps (Delany and Lewis) Five further players have 50 or more T20I caps (Prendergast, Stokell, Paul, Murray, Kelly) Amy Hunter is on 49 T20I caps Gaby Lewis has previously played Germany once and scored 105* (60 balls) Either Laura Delany (1,479 runs / 87 wickets) and Orla Prendergast (1,446 runs / 50 wickets) will become the first Irish woman to achieve the double of 1,500 runs and 50 wickets in T20Is.
