The Orihuela Town Hall have announced an Almond Blossom Walking Route, which takes ramblers through the most beautiful blossoming countryside in Torremundo, Orihuela.
The route begins on Saturday, February 22 at 9.30am and leaves from the Plaza de la Pedania in the hamlet of Torremundo. It is a seven-kilometre round trip that will take the group walking through the multitudinous almond trees that are painting the Spanish countryside pink and white with blossoms at this moment. It is a fleeting natural experience that should definitely be explored by visitors and locals alike.
Enjoy an annual natural phenomenon
The route is low difficulty according to organisers but due to its stony terrain would not be suitable for wheelchair access. The Orihuela Town Hall say the ramble “will allow you to enjoy this natural phenomenon, which only occurs at this time of year.” Joining the route is a great excuse to see more of the local area, away from the main towns and get a feel for some of the nature that acts as a basis for the local gastronomy, which is some of the best in the world. The Costa Blanca has some of the best almond blossom routes in Spain with locals and visitors flocking every year to take in their natural beauty.
The route is free to join but places are limited so visitors are asked to make a reservation by visiting Orihuela Touristica online or messaging via WhatsApp on 673 836 385.
