Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be without the services of their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for the remainder of IPL 2025 as he has been ruled out due to an elbow injury. The opening batsman has been replaced by MS Dhoni. The five-time IPL-winning captain handed over the charge to Ruturaj before IPL 2024. Ruturaj-led CSK crashed out of the league stage of IPL 2024. They have struggled in IPL 2025 and are reeling at the last 9th spot in the points table. CSK have only managed 1 win from 5 matches. Ambati Rayudu, who is doing commentary in IPL 2025, has made a bold prediction for CSK following Dhoni's reappointment. The former CSK star has said that Dhoni can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify for the second round. "First of all, it is very sad that Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, has been ruled out of the IPL. But, all the fans, will be extremely excited to see MS Dhoni lead CSK again. He can always pull out his magic, and make CSK qualify from here. It will be one great story. So, I am very very excited and I just hope that he weaves his magic all over the CSK team," he told ESPNcricinfo. Rayudu was part of CSK from IPL 2018 to 2023. He won 3 IPL trophies under Dhoni's captaincy. Interestingly, Rayudu's last IPL game was Dhoni's previous match as their captain. Rayudu retired after winning the IPL 2023 trophy. Dhoni, who is set to return as CSK's captain after nearly 2 years, will create history and become the first uncapped player to lead an IPL team. CSK retained him in the uncapped category for Rs 4 crore. CSK will host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their sixth game on Friday (April 11). KKR have 2 wins from 5 matches and are at the sixth spot in the points table.
