Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu invited the farmers of the capital region to attend the reinitiation ceremony of Amaravati development works. He invited farmers from all the capital villages to actively participate in every programme and activity related to the capital. The Prime Minister will relaunch the capital construction works on May 2, and discussions were held with farmers regarding their grievances and aspirations. Farmers from various villages within the capital region gathered at the Undavalli residence of the Chief Minister. On the occasion, Mr. Naidu said, “May 2 will mark a historic turning point in the State’s history, and the construction of the capital city is a crucial step for the State’s progress.” The construction of a world-class capital is possible only because of the sacrifices made by the farmers, and that the people of the State will forever remember their goodwill. The government will facilitate bank loans for the returnable plots allocated to the farmers who had given their land for the capital. “After the 2014 capital announcement, YSRCP leaders had spread misinformation to prevent farmers from giving their lands. Despite that, trusting us, farmers came forward and handed over 34,000 acres. To help the State and improve their own lives, they had given their lands for building a new city. These farmers faced severe hardships during the YSRCP government. They were misled with promises of continuing Amaravati, but later talked about three capitals, graveyards, and deserts. It was your five-year-long struggle and the strength of your sacrifice that protected Amaravati. Because it is a ‘divine capital,’ they couldn’t dismantle it. On May 2, Prime Minister Modi will come for the reinitiation of Amaravati’s construction works. People should gather from every village and every house for this event. After May 2, the construction will speed up significantly. We will also develop the plots allotted to farmers,” he said. During the meeting, additional land acquisition needs for Amaravati’s development were also discussed. When land was acquired for the Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad, some questioned the acquisition of 5,000 acres. But due to visionary acquisition, not only was an international airport was built, but also major hotels, malls, and economic activities were developed, raising land values and benefiting the local farmers. Similarly, in Amaravati, some additional land will be needed for the international airport and cricket stadium. Land will be acquired only according to these needs. “No decision or programme will go against the interests of the farmers who voluntarily gave land for the capital,” he assured. “Additional bridges over the Krishna river, inner and outer ring roads, and better connectivity to other regions are all coming. Amaravati will expand and attract large-scale companies and investments. Do not fear that additional land acquisition will lower land values. There will be no distance between me and the farmers. Nothing will happen against your interests,” he said. When farmers requested a memorial to honour those who lost their lives in the capital movement, the Chief Minister promised to set up a museum capturing the historical developments from the Satavahana period to the Amaravati movement. Furthermore, farmers requested land titles for those currently residing without ownership in the village limits. The Chief Minister assured that this programme would also be undertaken soon. Ministers P. Narayana, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, and others participated in the meeting.
