Andhra Pradesh plans to build a world-class international cricket stadium in Amaravati’s Sports City

The Andhra Pradesh government has proposed the construction of a world-class international cricket stadium in Amaravati, as part of the capital’s designated Sports City. This stadium will be developed with state-of-the-art facilities and is envisioned to boost the State’s sports infrastructure on a global scale.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana announced the plan during his visit to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Monday. He, along with a team of officials, examined the stadium’s rapid construction model, completed in just nine months, and interacted with Gujarat sports authorities about its execution.
The proposed stadium will be located within Sports City, one of the nine integrated urban zones. originally planned in Amaravati’s master plan between 2014 and 2019.
Recently, the Minister said the Sports City would be a hub for international sporting events, aligning with the State’s broader vision of hosting events like the Olympics in the future. In his recent press conference, he had pointed out that the State government has plans to conduct international sports events like Olympics and others.
There is a stadium near Mangalagiri in Amaravati capital, but the officials observed that the government has bigger plans to encourage sports and hence thinking about constructing international cricket stadium. However, the officials informed that the government is yet to take a final decision on the newly proposed stadium.
Jindal Solid Waste Management Plant
Earlier in the day, Mr. Narayana also visited the Jindal Solid Waste Management Plant in Gyaspur, where officials demonstrated methods of generating electricity and manufacturing paver blocks from solid waste. The Minister and his team returned to Vijayawada.
