Andre Russell's Explosive Farewell: Four Sixes, Two Fours In 15-Ball 36 Against Australia

Andre Russell made sure his final appearance in T20Is was nothing short of spectacular. In true Dre Russ fashion, the hard-hitting allrounder signed off with a blitz that had fans at Sabina Park – and those watching worldwide – roaring in delight. The match against Australia wasn’t just another T20I. It was Russell’s swansong, his last hurrah in West Indies colours, and he delivered a parting gift only he could – four sixes, two fours – pure carnage that reminded everyone why he’s been one of the most feared finishers in T20 history. Batting first, West Indies found themselves in trouble at 98/5. Enter Russell, who earlier received a guard of honour from both the teams. The big Jamaican made his intentions clear right away. Facing Ben Dwarshuis in the 15th over, he launched his onslaught – three of the six deliveries in the over saw the ball soaring into the Sabina Park night sky for three maximums. The first went straight down the ground, the second flew off a top-edge over the keeper, the third cleared long-on. The fourth six, smashed over deep midwicket, came off the bowling of Adam Zampa in the following over after the burly Jamaican had cut one away for a four. The crowd erupted – this was vintage Russell. Zampa, clearly under pressure, followed up with back-to-back wides. Russell finished with 36 off just 15 balls, a cameo that included four sixes and two fours. His strike rate? A jaw-dropping 240. It was a classic ‘blink and you miss’ Dre Russ innings, electrifying in every sense. “….was a bit emotional when I went out to the middle for the last time, but I was focused on my work . When you have positive intent, it becomes easy (to hit sixes), nice to keep hitting sixes. Sabina Park, it was my dream as a kid to play here, it’s reality now, says if you dream, you can achieve,” said Russell after his innings. However, the fairy tale didn’t extend to the result. Australia chased down the 173-run target with eight wickets and 11 balls to spare, courtesy of Cameron Green and Josh Inglis. But that didn’t take away from the moment. With the curtain drawn on his international career, Russell leaves behind booming sixes, unforgettable finishes, and a legacy that’s etched in West Indies cricket folklore.
