Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who has been away from the big screen since 2018, was set to make her comeback with the cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s biopic Chakda Xpress. However, reports of the sports drama being shelved have left fans and co-stars heartbroken. After Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Renuka Shahane has also expressed her disappointment over the unexpected news. Basically, because I think everyone has put in so much effort. Anushka has also worked on herself so much for it. And whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports. Renuka further told NDTV, "Jhulan Goswami is iconic and coming from a very poor house and making it big and yet the kind of discrepancy that still exists between men's cricket and women's cricket and all other sports, I would say. Chakda Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship," Shahane told NDTV. Renuka Shahane On Anushka Sharma's Performance In Chakda Xpress Speaking about Anushka's performance as the legendary Indian cricketer, Renuka said that she had done a remarkable job in shaping the character, adding that it’s especially tough to portray iconic figures, as performing as them brings an added layer of difficulty. "It's shot well, it's really well made. I was so looking forward to it. I wish there was some way such a beautiful film could be salvaged," hopes the actress. Meanwhile, the team of Chakda Xpress is yet to release an official statement on the update.
