Apocalyptic scenes in Beijing during world's first Humanoid Robot Games
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
The first ever World Humanoid Robot Games kicked off with an opening ceremony in Beijing on Thursday.
As fears mount of bots stealing our jobs, Olympians are the latest to get worried.
In the world’s first “robot Olympics”, robots crashed into each other, tackled each other in football matches, sprinted at full speed and toppled over into a heap.
More than 500 robots in 280 teams from 16 countries are getting involved. Tickets to watch it cost between £13 and £60.
Many teams are from universities and private tech businesses and manufacturers.
Games are not just for fun, but actually provide data for practical uses the tech geeks running the event say.
For example, football is not just the beautiful game but a chance to train coordination abilities for real-world robot jobs like folding your laundry.
