Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Thursday busted an app cricket betting racket with the arrest of three persons including a main bookie and sub-bookie. Following a tip off, the sleuths of Task Force raided an organized online cricket betting den at Pawani Lingaiah apartment in Himayathnagar and caught three persons - Sriraj (42), an automobile business and resident of Himayathnagar, and H Sainath (32), a travel businessman and Regalla Gopinath, a private employee. Both Sainath and Gopinath were residents of Chikkadpally. While Sriraj was the main bookie, Sainath was a sub-bookie and Gopinath was betting amount collection agent, said YVS Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad. Three mobile phones and Rs.1.20 lakh in cash were seized from the possession of the arrested persons. Sudheendra said Sriraj was a habitual betting organizer and to earn money illegally, he was organizing cricket betting and accepting betting amount from known and unknown punters. For organizing betting, he engaged his agents Sainath and Gopynath on five commission basis and set up betting den at Pawani Lingaiah Apartment. During IPL Cricket matches he purchased a betting app www.radheexch.com from an agent abroad and sharing its login ID and password to punters for live betting. Providing on-line scores ball to ball, as well as betting ratios, Sriraj used to collect betting amount from punters clandestinely and remit to main bookie on commission basis. On Wednesday, Sriraj was found to be organizing and accepting cricket betting amount from punters directly through online betting during ongoing IPL cricket match held between Chennai Super Kings versus Punjab Kings, through online betting app when the police nabbed them.
