The altercation prompted a frantic melee, with the bowler throwing punches while a Tigers teammate put the batter in a chokehold and tackled him to the turf. Players eventually left the field, with the match resuming following a 30-minute delay. “We as a club certainly don’t condone violence in any way, shape or form and these players acted on their own behalf,” Gormandale Tigers said in a statement. “We will be cooperating with whatever is required from an investigation standpoint and will support any sanctions or suspensions that come the way of the players.” Traralgon Rovers CC and Cricket Latrobe Valley have also been contacted for comment.
