Amman, June 02 (QNA) - The Arab-Islamic ministerial committee on Gaza emphasized that the Israeli occupation's obstruction of the visit of the Arab-Islamic Committee delegation on Gaza to Ramallah reflects the arrogance of Israel, the occupying power, and its violation of international law and its legal obligations.
This came during a joint press conference held by the committee members following the meeting held Sunday in Amman, Jordan, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah. Committee members included Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Alzayani, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, along with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas via video conference.
The committee members also stressed the need to continue efforts and actions aimed at halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza and ending the humanitarian catastrophe it is causing, and to launch a genuine effort to fulfill the Palestinian people's right to an independent, sovereign state on its national soil, based on the two-state solution as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
They also stressed the need to intensify efforts to urge more countries to recognize the Palestinian state, and to ensure that the international conference to be held in New York, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, produces practical results in this regard. (QNA)
