@Source: tribune.net.ph
Before gracing the customary press conference at the Sheraton on Tuesday, power-punching Filipino Cristian Araneta checked his weight using a digital scale and liked what he saw.On the eve of the official weighin, there was no weighty issues surrounding Araneta, who battles Japan-based Thai Thanongsak Simsri for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) light-flyweight title on Thursday in Tokyo.Araneta’s condition could be attributed to the arrival of his nutritionist from the Philippines last Sunday.Jeaneth Aro, credited for her role in Hidilyn Diaz’s success in the Tokyo Olympics, immediately went to work and prepared Araneta’s food intake.No wonder Araneta and his team were all smiles as they headed to the presser.Simsri, whose solid 38-1 win-loss record is stuffed with victories over top Filipino fighters, is favored to snatch the IBF 108-pound belt.But Araneta, he with the 25-2 card with 20 knockouts, is a guy not to be taken for granted.At 30 years of age, the Cebu-based Araneta is a monster hitter.His last two fights each ended in the first round.Their scheduled 12-rounder will be held at the Ota City General Gymnasium.
