Ariana Grande’s Oscars 2025 outfit is vintage Hollywood glamour – but with a twist.
The Wicked actress, 31, led the red carpet arrivals on Sunday evening along with her co-star and fellow Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo, 38.
Wearing a flaired-out nude corset with pale tulle netting attached, fans on X couldn’t help but remark that the look bore a striking resemblance to a household item.
@RachelWoollett asked: ‘Anyone else getting a vintage lampshade vibe #AcademyAwards2025#Oscars#Oscars2025.’
Echoing their sentiment, @emilybernay wrote: ‘The lampshade at the store waiting for you to buy it #Oscars.’
@the_squarrell agreed: ‘Ariana reminds me of a literal lampshade?? Not in a bad way. #Oscars2025 #Oscars #AcademyAwards2025 #ArianaGrande.’

@danidelle23 added: ‘Ariana Grande looks stunning but also a little bit like a lampshade #Oscars.’
Cynthia, meanwhile, drew inspiration from her Wicked character Elphaba in a dark green velvet dress for her outfit.
She appeared to have been inspired by the Tudors too, with her frock having a statement collar and an exaggerated hip.
Cynthia and the US popstar are nominated for best actress and best supporting actress respectively for the prequel to The Wizard Of Oz.
Their Wicked co-stars Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang and Ethan Slater were also among the Oscars’ early arrivals.

Hot on their heels was best actor nominee Timothée Chalamet, who is hoping for the award for his performance as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.
The 29-year-old was hard to miss on the red carpet in an eye-catching monocoloured yellow suit and black shoes in an outfit that would not look out of place in a pencil case.
The Wonka actor was supported by his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, 27, although she did not pose with him on the carpet in a move likely to allow him to sweetly ‘have his moment’.
Instead, they were seen inside the Dolby Theatre gazing into each other’s eyes. Kylie has previously joined Timothée at awards ceremony on his Oscars campaign trail – including a ‘fever dream’ appearance at the Baftas.
Other major stars up for an award tonight at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles include best actress favourite Demi Moore, who has already bagged the Golden Globe for her role in body-horror The Substance.

The 61-year-old kept it simple in a chic floor-length silver bejewelled dress and matching earrings.
Also rocking their looks were The Brutalist stars Joe Alwyn, and Felicity Jones, British actor Joe Locke, and US stars Whoopi Goldberg, and Emilia Perez actress Zoe Saldana.
Netflix musical Emilia Perez leads this year’s nominations with 13, but has also hit the headlines after social media posts made by star Karla Sofia Gascon about Islam, the death of George Floyd and diversity at the Oscars resurfaced following the musical’s release.
The Spanish language movie, which also stars US actresses Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez, is directed by Jacques Audiard and tells the story of a Mexican cartel boss who enlists the help of a lawyer to assume a new identity as a woman.

This year’s ceremony takes place following the wildfires which ravaged parts of Los Angeles in January.
The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, and will also see performances from US rapper Doja Cat and British singer Raye.
Presenters include British stars Andrew Garfield, and Alwyn, Irish Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, Scarlett Johansson, Gomez, and talk show host Oprah Winfrey.
A representative for Indiana Jones film star Harrison Ford confirmed that he would not be attending the ceremony to present due to having the infectious and painful rash shingles.
