Arne Slot phonecall sets up £7M Celtic transfer bonanza as Michel Ange-Balikwisha proves a man of his word

Premier League champions Liverpool are in line to hand Celtic £6.7million to turbo-charge their summer transfer spending. Arne Slot wants former Parkhead star Jeremie Frimpong to succeed outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold and he can be had for £36m this summer. Celtic will land 30 per cent of the profits thanks to their iron clad sell-on clause that allows Brendan Rodgers' side to plan ahead with an exit from Bayer Leverkusen viewed as a near certainty. Slot has reportedly been engaged in discussions with Frimpong with the pair sharing phonecalls ahead of a potential link-up between the two Dutchman at Anfield. Bild's Bundesliga insider Christian Falk has revealed dialogue is open as Alexander-Arnold heads to Real Madrid. Falk said: “Jeremie Frimpong and Arne Slot were on the phone a lot last month. Both are Dutch, and Slot wanted to sign him in the summer. "The Liverpool head coach had been telling the full-back he was still keen to get him." Meanwhile, long-term Celtic target Michel-Ange Balikwisha has proven true to his vow to make an impact in the Belgian playoffs to tee up a potential exit from Royal Antwerp. The Premiership champions have long admired the jet-heeled winger and he reminded everyone of his abilities with goals against Genk and Anderlecht in the past fortnight. And Balikwisha admits his exit could happen at warp speed with Antwerp facing a major call on the wide man who is valued around £6million. He said: last month “I suffered a meniscus injury in the 2024 winter transfer window. And last summer, Celtic, Lille and Lens came knocking and I was out again at a bad time. “I don’t know whether I will leave this summer. The chairman and Marc Overmars will be in charge of that in the coming weeks. How I end the playoffs will determine a lot. “If I continue on this path with the way I am playing, things can go quickly. And if it turns out tomorrow that my Antwerp story is coming to an end, then I hope to sign elsewhere in time, so that I can play a farewell match for the fans.” Elsewhere, Veljko Milosavljevic has revealed he models his game on former Hoops hero Virgil van Dijk as he prepares for a move from Red Star Belgrade. The Scottish champions have been linked with a move for the 17-year-old who has been tipped to become one of the best prospects to come out of the Balkans in recent years. And the Serbian stopper admitted he admires a former Parkhead idol. Milosavljevic said: "My role model in football is Virgil van Dijk. He is the best defender. I think I have learned so much this season and winning the title with Red Star Belgrade has been a dream for me. "I played in two Eternal Derbes against Partizan Belgrade too. I'm only 17 and I understand I still have a lot of learning to do. I hope to play many more important matches in the future and leave some mark on Red Star before I leave. "For me, the past six months are the fulfilment of a boyhood dream. As a child, I dreamed of playing for the Red Star first team. I believe in myself and hope to keep learning and improving. I take on board a lot of advice from our manager Vladan Milojevic, who is one of the very best coaches of all time in Serbian football."
