Travellers have returned to a Birmingham park weeks after a previous visit. The travellers, said to be some 30 caravans strong, arrived at Billesley Common, which is next to Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club, at around 8pm yesterday, Wednesday, July 30. The group was said to have got on to the land through a barrier which was previously been locked with chains – but those chains were said to have been broken. At the common there’s a woodland area for wildlife and a pond and that had rubbish and nappies in it. “They also left an old caravan. It was at the side of Moseley Rugby Club and someone set fire to it. “There are regular dog walkers and one said they were petrified to walk their dogs over there. They felt intimidated..” He continued: “In June when they came, there was food left on the floor. “They also dug a hole to use as a toilet. “They got in near to where there are tennis courts. “There’s a gate and a barrier which usually has two chains on it and a padlock. But the chain was cut off. “They may have gone onto Billesley Common because there’s a fair on at Swanshurst Park.” Get the latest BirminghamLive news direct to your inbox A group of travellers were at the same park on Friday, June 6.
