Arsenal fans were left furious after Everton were awarded a controversial penalty to equalise in their Premier League clash.
The Gunners headed to Goodison Park as they looked to keep the pressure on Liverpool at the top of the table, and led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Leandro Trossard's tidy finish.
However, just minutes into the second-half, Everton were awarded a penalty after Myles Lewis-Skelly was adjudged to have dragged down Jack Harrison in the box.
Darren England immediately pointed to the spot, despite complaints from Lewis-Skelly and Arsenal players.
Following a check from VAR, the penalty was confirmed and Everton striker Illiman Ndiaye stepped up to send David Raya the wrong way and level the scores at 1-1.
The decision appeared soft, with the minimal contact beginning outside of the box, and Lewis-Skelly let go of Harrison before the Everton winger dropped to the floor.
Arsenal fans took to X to vent their anger at the decision, as one user wrote: "How is this a penalty? Absolutely absurd." A second said: "Harrison pulls Lewis Skelly down, meaning Lewis Skelly falls on him, and Harrison is awarded a penalty??? What the hell."
A third fumed: "Think about the calls we saw not given this week. Think about the penalties not given. Now consider what we just saw. It's incredible. The harshest possible outcome *every* time this season from the referees."
Another furious Gunners fan added: "How in the world is that a penalty…" And a fifth said: "That is NEVER a penalty."
However, Lucy Ward, the former Leeds women's striker commentating on TNT Sports, agreed with the decision. She said: "Myles Lewis-Skelly misjudges the bounce and was always second best to get to it."
She added: "Ndiaye had to wait a long time but he was coolness personified and sends Raya the wrong way."
