Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal need to add depth and quality to the squad if they are to fight for multiple trophies at the same time in the future. Arsenal were last season involved in the title race until the final day, but they were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage. The Gunners have never got to May under Arteta and been fighting for multiple trophies, with the Arsenal boss believing more depth and quality are needed to do so. “Squad quality and availability,” he said. “Without those two, we cannot compete in four competitions. At this level, especially in this country, it’s impossible. “The higher the quality, the higher the availability, the more chances, probability you have. After you have to do it. But the probability goes high.” Arsenal want to add multiple players to the squad this summer, with a new striker, midfielder and winger a priority. Arsenal won 2-1 at the Bernabeu to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory across the two legs of the quarter-final. “Maybe it’s another faction,” said Arteta. "But I think we are very lucky because we are a football club that every time I’ve spoken to players, they want to be part of it. “That’s something that probably can generate more enthusiasm, more belief, and the fact that: ‘Ok, I want to be part of these nights now because the club is in a good place’. But I think overall we are already so `strong that we can attract any player.”
