Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta confirms major striker boost after Viktor Gyokeres statement
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Arsenal’s season is still alive and kicking heading into the final weeks - and they still have a chance to lift silverware. The Premier League has gone but the Champions League is still a very realistic prospect for Mikel Arteta ’s side. After finding a route past Spanish giants Real Madrid , the Gunners will take on French side Paris Saint-Germain in the last four. And while there is still plenty of work to do to make the season a success, planning has already started for next term. A striker will be right at the top of Arsenal ’s shopping list, with a few candidates having already been identified. Meanwhile, there has been some surprise managerial news after a former star was handed his first role in the dugout. With all of that being said, take a look at all of the standout headlines from the Emirates Stadium from the past 24 hours: Mikel Arteta has hinted that injured forward Kai Havertz is on track for a return to action earlier than expected - but has urged caution with rushing the German back. Speaking in a press conference, the Spaniard said: "Semi-finals? I think that's too close. “But if I had to bet on him earlier than expected, I would say yes. The way he works every day in that gym, pushing everybody, I don't think you can hold him much longer." Havertz, 25, had scored 15 goals for Arsenal ahead of his injury blow. Havertz has missed the past eight Premier League games. Would Viktor Gyokeres be a good signing for Arsenal? Share your thoughts in the comments below While Havertz’ return would be a considerable boost to Arsenal, the remedy to their goalscoring woes would be a new forward. And that man could well be Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres . The Swede has recently spoken out on his future and has admitted that all options remain on the table. He said: "No one can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment." It has previously been reported that the Portuguese giants would be willing to cash-in on Gyokeres should they receive a bid of around £55m to £70m. But Gyokeres has remained tight-lipped on any agreement. He added: "I can’t say anything about that." From a potential future Arsenal star to a former one now, with Aaron Ramsey taking his first steps into management. The midfielder has been put in interim charge of boyhood club Cardiff City after the exit of Omer Riza. A statement from the Championship club read: “Cardiff City FC can confirm that a decision has been taken to relieve Omer Riza of his duties as First Team Manager. "Aaron Ramsey will lead the Club for the remaining three games of the Sky Bet Championship season, beginning with Monday’s match at home to Oxford United. “Chris Gunter, Joe Ralls, Tom Hutton, Matthew Bloxham and Gavin Ward will join Aaron in the technical area. We’d like to thank Omer for his passion and effort during his time as Cardiff City manager and wish him the very best for his next steps in the game.” Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
