@Source: mirror.co.uk
Arsenal won't give up the fight before the final bell is rung in May, but Mikel Arteta and Co will be under no illusions about the size of the task in front of them when it comes to trying to chase down Liverpool in the Premier League title race. The Reds are a whopping 12 points clear ahead of the latest round of fixtures. But with Arsenal playing 48 hours before Arne Slot 's men compete in the Merseyside derby, there is a chance that lead could be slightly slimmer by the weekend. While there is still plenty to play for, talk has already shifted to the summer transfer window. The appointment of Andrea Berta as the club's new sporting director has rekindled talk over the club's transfer targets with the Gunners finally expected to complete the signing of an elite striker. Ahead of the next round of Premier League games, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from in and around The Emirates... Viktor Gyokeres is emerging as a serious summer target for Arsenal given that Alexander Isak will prove difficult to prise away from Newcastle . The Sporting Lisbon star, 26, was linked with the Gunners last summer and has plundered goals at a phenomenal rate since moving to Portugal on a free transfer from Coventry City back in the summer of 2023. But former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit says his old club should prioritise a move for Victor Osimhen instead, with the Frenchman arguing that the on-loan Galatasaray forward has 'more pedigree' than Gyokeres. J oin the debate! Who do you think Arsenal should sign this summer? Let us know here Mikel Arteta remains a huge fan of Alexander Isak. But Newcastle's reluctance to sell, plus the astronomical figure it would take to actually secure the Swedish striker's services, means Arsenal could opt to pursue their other targets . Isak is widely recognised as one of the Premier League's most complete forwards and is also of interest to Liverpool. He is contracted until 2028, though, and Arsenal are known to have other targets in mind ahead of the summer, including Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Bukayo Saka is fit and ready to feature in Arsenal's pivotal game with Fulham , Mikel Arteta has concerned. The England winger has not played this year after undergoing hamstring surgery just before Christmas . But Saka is in the squad for Tuesday night's meeting with Fulham . And his presence will give the Gunners a major boost as they bid to finish the season strong. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
