Arsenal set to give Liverpool guard of honour ahead of Anfield clash

Arsenal are expected to give champions Liverpool a guard of honour when the two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday.
Clubs are under no obligation to give a guard of honour as there is nothing in Premier League regulations that requires them to do so.
But the gesture has become a tradition over the years and Liverpool received a guard of honour from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Arsenal had been competing with Liverpool for the title but have faded in recent weeks and are now in danger of finishing outside the top two.
The Gunners have given Liverpool a guard of honour before under Mikel Arteta, back at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Arteta said last week how Liverpool were worthy winners of the Premier League this season.
“Nobody should be surprised because they have the level and they made it because they’ve done a lot of things very, very well,” he said.
“So they deserve to be champions. They deserve to win it, they’ve done it in a manner, in a way that has given no chance to the others and you have to congratulate that.
“It’s sport as well and you have to accept the reasons why you haven’t been able to achieve it and try to improve, that’s it. It can be part of your motivation, that’s not the biggest part, my motivations are much more focused in other aspects than that one but it hurts to watch it, that’s for sure.”
