Arsenal transfer news: Release clause revealed as Mikel Arteta faces £50m setback
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
With just two matches left in the Premier League season and a little over two weeks until the transfer window swings open, Arsenal are yet to secure their spot in next season's Champions League . The second-placed Gunners will face Newcastle United and Southampton , with the Magpies having the chance to overtake Arsenal if they bag a win this weekend. However, the north Londoners will be keen to wrap up the season on a high note, despite enduring another trophyless campaign . Having missed out on the title to rivals Liverpool , manager Mikel Arteta has already conceded his squad was a bit thin on the ground this season, hinting at the need for new signings . A striker is high on Arsenal's shopping list as they aim to bring in four new faces. There'll likely be a few departures too, with goalkeeper Neto and winger Raheem Sterling set to end their loan spells and head back to Bournemouth and Chelsea respectively. As things stand, two midfielders - Thomas Partey and Jorginho - are also set to depart, as their contracts are due to run out this summer. Here's the latest transfer gossip swirling around the Emirates. Nuno Tavares hopped over to Lazio on loan last summer, with a clause included in the deal to make the move permanent this summer for €7-8million (£5.9-6.7m). The Portuguese full-back has had a cracking season and it's expected the Serie A side will trigger the option, reports the Mirror . However, Lazio might not hang onto him and could look to turn a quick profit by flogging him. It's suggested the club reckon he's worth about eight times more than his buy-out fee. Arsenal could be in for a windfall if this deal goes through. It's rumoured that the Gunners have a sell-on clause in their contract, potentially worth up to 25%. Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a swoop for Chelsea's promising midfielder Andrey Santos. The young star has been turning heads during his loan stint at Strasbourg this season and might even get a run out at Stamford Bridge next term. Santos was snapped up from Vasco da Gama and has had a string of loans since then, netting nine goals in 31 league matches in France and catching the eye of several clubs. Le10 Sport reports that both Arsenal and PSG are quietly working on plans to sign the 21-year-old. Andrea Berta, the new sporting director at the Emirates, is reportedly keen to seal several deals in the upcoming transfer window. Santos won't come cheap, but Chelsea may find it tough to assure the youngster of a clear path to the first team with Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez also vying for spots. Bournemouth ace Dean Huijsen looks set to turn down offers from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea this summer as he chases a dream move to Real Madrid . The defender has been a standout performer in the Cherries' backline, attracting attention across Europe and putting many of the continent's top clubs on high alert. The Spanish international, who moved to the south coast from Juventus in a £12m deal just a year ago, is tipped to be on the move again this summer. The 20-year-old has a hefty £50m release clause in his contract. According to Marca, Huijsen's father has made it known that Real Madrid is his son's top pick. Importantly, it seems the La Liga side might just make their move. Los Blancos have discovered that Huijsen's release clause can be paid in three chunks, making the deal more feasible. This arrangement would still leave the club with enough dosh to carry out their summer dealings.
