Tennis has dominated the prestigious Laureus sports awards in the past, with many players receiving recognition for their achievements. These important awards are given annually to athletes from a variety of sports based on their previous year’s performances. Tennis has won the most “World Sportsman of the Year” awards (12). Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have won the accolade a record five times, with Rafael Nadal winning twice. This year, Carlos Alcaraz, the world No.3, has been nominated on the shortlist for this category.
Tennis has also done exceptionally well in the “World Sportswoman of the Year” category with seven awards. Serena Williams has won the award four times, the most of any woman. World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka has been shortlisted in this category for her stellar 2024.
