Anand (Gujarat), July 22 (PTI) Dairy cooperative leader Ashok Chaudhary was on Tuesday elected unopposed as the chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk and dairy products under the brand “Amul”.
Gordhan Dhameliya was elected unopposed as the vice chairman of GCMMF, said Anand district collector and election officer Praveen Chaudhary.
The GCMMF met here to elect the chairman and vice chairman. 18 cooperative dairies in Gujarat are members of the federation.
“Ashok Chaudhary and Gordhan Dhameliya were elected unopposed as no other nominations were received for the post of chairman and vice chairman,” said the collector.
The election was necessitated as the two-and-a-half-year tenure of previous office-bearers is ending this month.
Ashok Chaudhary is the chairman of Mehsana District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (Dudhsagar Dairy), while Dhameliya is the chairman of Rajkot District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd or Gopal Dairy.
After being elected, Ashok Chaudhary said he would do his best to ensure the growth of GCMMF, given that nearly 36 lakh dairy farmers are associated with it. PTI PJT PD NSK
