Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in taking Samuel Iling-Junior back to the Riverside this summer. The 21-year-old is currently on loan with the Championship promotion hopefuls after being recalled by Aston Villa in January, following a difficult spell at Bologna. Iling-Junior joined Villa last summer from Juventus in a deal worth £12m, plus Enzo Barrenechea for £7m, in a separate transaction that saw Douglas Luiz move in the opposite direction for a fee of £42m. At Bologna, Iling-Junior made just seven league appearances and failed to start a single game. However, he featured more prominently in the Champions League, making three starts and appearing as a substitute against Villa during the group stage. Since joining Boro, he initially had to wait for a consistent run in the team but has started their last six Championship fixtures. He registered two assists in their 2-1 win at Oxford at the end of last month before scoring his first goal in Boro’s triumph at Blackburn Rovers last week. According to our sister title TeessideLive , Iling-Junior has cemented his place on Middlesbrough’s Most-Wanted list following a string of impressive performances. They also report that the Villa all-rounder has joined Mark Travers among the January loan signings that fans would love to see return next season. Meanwhile, Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is keen to take Lewis Dobbin back on loan for the upcoming campaign, after the forward suffered a season-ending calf injury last month. The 22-year-old, who joined Villa from Everton for £10m last summer, spent the first half of the season on loan at West Bromwich Albion. When that stint didn’t work out, he was sent to Carrow Road in January. Dobbin found the net in a 5-1 win over Swansea City at the end of January and scored again in a recent 4-2 victory over Stoke City. Norwich boss Thorup has already made it clear that he would like to extend Dobbin’s stay in Norfolk. "Of course," he said when asked if he'd like the Villa loanee to stay. "We have to wait and see what things will be going on this summer. "For him, he could see that he was developing, and he was doing it fast. He was actually doing very, very well here towards the end based on 10 games, which is positive. I think what he gave to the team in many ways was really positive. "We will sit down with him and his agents and his people to go through if there are any opportunities for him to actually stay with us, continue, or be here on a loan spell next season. I think it's realistic that we have those conversations.”
