La Liga leaders Barcelona travel to the Metropolitano Stadium for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie with Atletico Madrid.
The first leg was not short on action, finishing 4-4. Atletico were quick out of the gates, racing to a two-goal lead before conceding four unanswered, the visitors ultimately equalising through Alexander Sorloth in the 93rd minute.
The first leg took place in late February but that is not their most recent meeting: they locked horns in an equally free-scoring match in March. That contest ended 4-2 in favour of Barcelona, decided by a pair of injury-time goals courtesy of Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.
Despite the all-action first leg, it is honours even heading into the second. Atletico will hope the home advantage will be enough to help them edge their rivals.
The winner of this tie will face either Real Madrid or Real Sociedad in the final, which will be held at Sevilla’s Estadio de La Cartuja in late April.
Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona is scheduled for a 8:30pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The match will take place at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Premier Sports 1. Coverage will start at 8:25pm.
Live stream: Those with a Premier Sports subscription can also view the game live online via their app and website.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog.
Free highlights: Highlights can be found on FC Barcelona’s official YouTube channel.
The hosts will be without midfielder Koke as a muscle injury is due to keep him sidelined through mid-April. Suspended are Angel Correa and Jose Giminez.
Barcelona’s injury list is comparatively dramatic. Dani Olmo and Andreas Christensen are both set to miss Wednesday’s match but will return in a matter of weeks. Marc Casado, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, and Marc Bernal are all set for longer spells in the physio’s room with ligament injuries.
There was little to separate the two sides in the first leg, but Barcelona’s late win at the Metropolitano in March suggests the Blaugrana will be more than up for the challenge.
Still high-flying in the league and unbeaten since mid-December, it would be smart to back Barcelona in this tie - but it will be close.
Atletico 2-3 Barcelona
