The Masters patrons and other members of the public weren't placed at risk while an arrest was made at Augusta National Golf Club on April 8.
Richmond County Sheriff's deputies arrested Julie Dicks, 35, of Augusta, said Richmond County Sheriff's Office Chief of Staff Lewis Blanchard.
Around 6 p.m., a deputy saw Dicks driving a black 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander in the center turn lane on Washington Road, apparently using it to bypass traffic, Blanchard continued.
The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop but Dicks turned into Gate 5 (Washington Road near Old Berckmans Road) where she ran into a dead end and was taken into custody, Blanchard added.
“At no point during this event were patrons or members of the public placed at risk," Blanchard said in an email. "The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office works in close partnership with Augusta National security to ensure the safety of all patrons during the Masters Tournament."
Dicks has been charged with driving under the influence and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
